The Lakehurst Water and Sanitation District (District) is a Master Meter District that provides potable water and sanitary sewer services to approximately 5,763 customer accounts. These accounts consist of 5,415 single-family homes, 148 mult-family dwellings, 132 commercial, which encompass schools, restaurants, offices, hotels, and other public buildings. There are also 52 irrigation accounts and the Federal Correctional Facility located at 9595 West Quincy Avenue. The District is responsible for reading and billing all of its customers on a monthly/bi-monthly basis for water consumed.
The District owns, operates and maintains over 71 miles of sanitary sewer mainlines, ranging in size from 8-inch to 30-inch of various pipe type. The District also owns, operates and maintains over 86 miles of water mainlines ranging in size from 4-inch to 24-inch of various pipe type.
The District’s operations are financed by revenues generated primarily from rates, fees, tolls and charges for water and sanitary sewer services provided to each of its customers.
The District has a Distributor’s contract with the City and County of Denver acting through its Board of Water Commissioners (Denver Water) whereby Denver is obligated to sell and the District is obligated to purchase potable water for distribution to the District’s customers. On the sanitary sewer side, the District has a contract with Metro Wastewater Recovery, whereas Metro agrees to accept sanitary sewage collected within the District boundaries and from various connector districts for transportation and treatment.
