Denver Water Implements 2022 Summer Water Use Program

Denver Water has implemented its 2022 Summer Water Use Program, which Lakehurst Water and Sanitation District, as a contract distributor, is legally obligated to follow and enforce. Effective May 1 to October 1, customers may water no more than three days per week and must adhere to the watering rules laid out below.

1. Water during cooler times of the day – lawn watering is NOT allowed between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2. Routine watering of turf is limited to three days - OF YOUR CHOICE - per week
3. Do not waste water by allowing it to pool on sidewalks, gutters, or streets.
4. Newly planted seed or sod may be watered, as necessary, for up to 21 days. After 21 days, routine watering is limited to no more than three days per week and not between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
5. Do not apply more water than is necessary to establish and maintain a healthy landscape
6. Turn your irrigation system off when it rains and during high winds.
7. Make repairs to irrigation systems in a timely manner and adjust sprinkler heads appropriately.

REPORT WATER WASTE
If you see water waste that does not meet these rules, please call Lakehurst Water at 303-985-7895.

2020 Consumer Confidence Report Is Available on the District Website

Each year the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates that all public water systems provide their customers with a water quality update called the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR).

Since Lakehurst operates under a contract with Denver Water, it is Denver Water’s duty to monitor and report on the quality of our treated water.

The CCR from Denver contains information regarding water quality regulations as well as recent testing results and evaluations.

District customers may log onto Lakehurst’s website - www.lakehurstwater.org - to view the CCR, or call the District office - 303-985-7895 - or Denver Water - 303628-6000 - with questions.

Quincy Avenue 12-Inch Water Line Replacement Underway

Lakehurst Board of Directors awarded a contract to replace approximately 6,000 feet of 12-inch water line to Brannon Construction Company. The replacement of this waterline, installed in the early 1970’s, is in conjunction with Jefferson County’s Quincy Road Widening Project beginning later this summer. The parameters of the waterline project extend from South Beech Way to South Swadley Court, in West Quincy Avenue. While there will be some minor delays in traffic movement and some periodic water outages during construction, both Lakehurst and the County are working in unison to minimize these disruptions.

The District has experienced several water breaks on this critical distribution main in the past and replacing this water line prior to the County road rehabilitation project will save District residents several thousands of dollars in construction costs and mitigate the need to repair future main breaks that will most certainly occur and cause traffic delays and widespread water outages. Both the County and Lakehurst appreciate your patience during this time. You can receive more up-to-date information on the project from the Jefferson County website under Public Projects.
